Royals announce Dylan Coyle as director of communications and community engagement and Marissa Reighard business development manager

Reading, Pa. - The Reading Royals, proud affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced Monday that Dylan Coyle has been named the director of communications and community engagement, while Marissa Reighard has been named the business development manager.Coyle recently graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. He was the media director of the Temple University Ice Hockey Club, sports director at the school’s radio station, and media relations assistant for Temple’s business school.A native of Oxford, Pa., Coyle will broadcast all Royals home and away games, organize and run community-based events, and be the main point of contact for all media outlets covering the team.“I’m thrilled beyond belief to start working with the team I’ve grown up rooting for,” said Coyle. “I remember listening to the calls of Royals legend Mark Thompson and getting to announce games with him when I was in high school. It’s an honor to follow in his footsteps.”Coyle is no stranger to the Royals’ front office. He worked as an intern with the club during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons as the broadcast/media relations assistant.“Working alongside former Royals broadcaster David Fine and current color commentator Pat Richards was invaluable to my current level of experience,” he said. “If it wasn’t for their countless hours of assistance and advice, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”Royals General Manager David Farrar is looking forward to working with Coyle again.“I’ve known Dylan for a couple of years now, and I am excited for him to get started with us,” Farrar said. “I’m confident he will do great things to help further the Reading Royals’ initiatives, community outreach goals, and lead the communications department into our 20th anniversary season and beyond.”Reighard, a Toledo, Ohio native, worked for the Toledo Walleye during the 2016-17 season in their game entertainment and ticket sales divisions before transitioning to the Fayetteville Marksmen’s director of promotions and game day operations in 2017. She spent three years with the club and was promoted to director of corporate partnerships in 2019, growing sponsorships by 151%.“With my past experience in sports, I believe I can bring fresh ideas and a competitive drive to the Royals’ front office,” she said. “While working with other teams, I’ve been able to develop a better understanding of customer needs and expectations to create better game day experiences.”Hockey has been a part of Reighard’s life since she can remember. As an undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati, she worked for the school’s club hockey team. Directly after graduating, she interned for the now-defunct Las Vegas Wranglers.“Personally, the sport to me means family,” she said. “Minor league hockey brings such a sense of togetherness that reaches all departments whether it be ticket sales, marketing, corporate partnerships, or digital media. My passion for this sport grows every day and I’m grateful to be with an organization that shares my same passion.”Royals Assistant General Manager and Director of Ticketing Dakota Procyk has high hopes for Reighard’s impact.“Marissa’s previous experience speaks volumes about her dedication to the sport and minor league hockey in general.
