Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced the team’s 2012-13 Opening Day Roster. The Royals Opening Day roster included twenty-four players (sixteen forwards, six defensemen, and two goaltenders) with twenty active players, two on the reserve list and two on the 21-Day Injured Reserve.

In a transaction completed after the Royals’ Opening Day Roster was submitted to the league, defenseman Denny Urban was returned to the Royals from the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL, where he was attending training camp. Urban has now been added to the Royals’ current roster.

The Royals 2012-13 regular season presented by Steve Moyer Subaru opens in Elmira, New York, on Friday, October 12, 2012, when the team will take on the Elmira Jackals at 7:05 pm. That game, as with all Royals’ road games this year, will be televised live courtesy of Royals TV presented by Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV.

On Saturday, October 13, 2012, the Royals open the home season when the Titans visit the Sovereign Center at 7:05 pm. The Purple on Penn Street Pre-Game Party kicks off at 4:00 pm that day in front of the Sovereign Center. The first 2500 fans in attendance 18 and older receive a ‘New Beginning’ t-shirt with a Royals’ and Hershey Bears’ logo courtesy of Capital BlueCross. The first 5000 fans receive a 32 oz. re-fillable cup courtesy of Diamond Credit Union.
