Royals Extend Tryout Agreements to Nine Players
Tryouts Include Three Skaters from Larry Courville’s Free Agent Pro Tryout Camp Held in Early September

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has extended Tryout Agreements to nine players: (i) five forwards – Justin Kemmerer, Levi Lind, Matt Moffat, Ryan Stouffer, and Josh Wrobel; (ii) two defensemen – Eriks Sevcenko and Nick Wheeler; and (iii) two goaltenders – Kevin Beech and Alexandre Beaudry. Three of these players – Moffat, Sevcenko, and Wheeler – received tryouts with the Royals as a result of their performance at Larry Courville’s Second Annual Free Agent Pro Tryout Camp held at the Body Zone Sports & Wellness Complex in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, in early September.
Kemmerer (6’3/207) (25), who hails from Hershey, Pennsylvania, played collegiately at Bentley University. Last season, he registered an assist and two penalty minutes in six games with the Royals.
Lind (6’3/211) (24), a fourth year pro from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, split last season between the Columbus Cottonmouths (10g-10a=20pts in 27 games) of the Southern Professional Hockey League and the Rapid City Rush (2g-5a=7pts in 30 games) of the Central Hockey League.
Moffat (5’10/181) (25), a third year pro from Cambridge, Ontario, played forty-seven regular season games with the Danbury Whalers (17g-42a=59pts, 51 pims, +24) of the Federal Hockey League last season. Moffat, who also played one game with the Trenton Titans last season without registering any points or penalty minutes, picked up six points (4g-2a) in eight playoff games with the Whalers.
Stouffer (5’9/181) (21), a first year pro from Souderton, Pennsylvania, scored twenty-two goals and assisted on twenty-four others (forty-six points)—and played to a plus-26 (+26)—in fifty-three games with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League last season.
Wrobel (6’2/201) (22), who is from Burlington, Ontario, will be making his first appearance in a pro training camp.
Sevcenko (5’11/191) (21), who hails from Daugavpils, Latvia, played fifty-five games last season for Riga (1g-9a=10pts) in the Russian Minor Hockey League. Sevcenko, who has played multiple years for the Latvian junior national team in international tournaments, also played six games for Metalurgs Liepaja (0g-4a) in Belarus last season.
Wheeler (5’8/182) (24), a second year pro from Nashua, New Hampshire, played thirty-eight games for three teams (0g-1a=1pt, 20 pims) in the Southern Professional Hockey League last year. Wheeler, who played his college hockey at St. Anselm College, also played seven regular season games with the Brooklyn Aviators (0g-1a=1pt, 15 pims) of the Federal Hockey League last season. He also played three playoff games with the Aviators.
Beaudry (5’10/179) (23), who hails from Cumberland, Ontario, is entering his first year of pro. Last year, he completed a four year stint at Providence College, where he compiled a record of 13-19-4 (3.04 gaa) (.896 save %) for the Friars.
Beech (6’3/182) (26), a sixth year pro from Brantford, Ontario, played for four separate teams last season in the CHL and SPHL. A sixth round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2005, Beech was named the CHL’s Most Outstanding Goaltender in 2008-09 when he went 35-12-3 (2.44 gaa) (.906 save %) with the Mississippi RiverKings.
The Royals Pre-Season Training Camp on-ice practice sessions are open to the public and begin on Monday, October 1, 2012, at 7:00 pm the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The Royals open the 2012-13 regular season in Elmira, New York, on Friday, October 12, 2012, when the team will take on the Elmira Jackals at 7:05 pm. The next night, Saturday, October 13, 2012, the Royals open the home season when the Titans visit the Sovereign Center at 7:05 pm.
