Internship Opportunities
The purpose of these internships is to give students hands-on experience in the career area of their choice. Most positions include office hours as well as game day responsibilities and total approximately ten – twenty hours per week. The positions are unpaid, however academic credit is available if applicable. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in Sports Management, Marketing, Ticket Sales, Broadcasting and/or Business.
MARKETING INTERNSHIP
Marketing interns will assist the Marketing Department in daily and game-day duties including, but not limited to: - Assist with the Royals donations program
- Assist with Royals Kids Events
- Schedule game night activities, including National Anthem Singers, contacting promotional winners, etc.
- Assist in implementation of Royals special events, including (but not limited to) season ticket holder parties, Fan Appreciation Night and pre-game parties
- Assist with promotions on and off the ice
- Facilitate birthday parties on game nights
- Assist at community events, charitable outings and mascot appearances
Requirements: Availability for game days, special events and office hours. Interns must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course of study that pertains to Sports Management, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or Business. Interns must possess excellent oral and written communications skills and come to work presenting a professional appearance and behavior. Other requirements include: the ability to work independently, capable of meeting deadlines, possess excellent computer skills, be extremely detail oriented and availabile during non-business hours.

GAME CREW INTERNSHIP
Game Crew personnel will assist the Marketing Department in game-night duties including, but not limited to:
- Assist in implementation of Royals special events, including (but not limited to) season ticket holder parties, Fan Appreciation Night and pre-game parties
- Assist with on-ice and in-stands promotions
- Help with pre-game and/or post-game ceremonies
- Assist with handouts/giveaways pre-game and/or post-game
- Assist customers and season ticket holders at the Fan Appreciation Booth
- Assist the mascot with game night duties
- Coordinate game day arena setup
- Serve as a liaison with local hockey organizations for intermission games
- Coordinate with Slapshot and ticket sales department for execution of birthday parties on game nights

VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP
Video Production Interns will assist in all aspects of audio & video production. Possible tasks include:
- Recording, logging, and dubbing clips from Royals games.
- Operating video cameras during Royals games and other events
- Creating still and animated graphics for in-game use.
- Designing flyers and other marketing collateral
- Manage and maintain photo database
- Various game night roles (Click Effects, Music, Instant Replay, etc).
- Assisting in other projects within the marketing department as assigned.
The internship is suited for creative, motivated individuals who seek experience in non-linear editing, graphic design, and live event production. Software applications that will be utilized include:
- Adobe CS2 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects) - Zaxwerks ProAnimator - Click Effects - Game Ops Commander - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Candidates will be expected to work 10-20 office hours a week as well as Royals home games. This is an unpaid internship that can be used for course credit. The Royals Video Production Internship will last from September 2008 through May 2009.
